Founded in 1889, Waterville is one of the oldest Irish clubs. Eighty years after its founding, the original nine-hole course was redesigned by the famous Irish golf architect, Eddie Hackett. The front nine holes start out gently before moving to the larger dunes along the shoreline. There have been many famous visitors to Waterville including Raymond Floyd who said, “this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen… it has some of the finest golf links holes I have ever played”. Tiger Woods has warmed up for the British Open here.
